DNA nanotags are applied to Gemfelds' high‑grade rough emeralds at the mine.
Gemfields announced the launch of a new type of traceability technology creating independent proof of provenance for Emeralds.
1. 100 nanometres
These nanotags are 0.0001 millimeters in diameter and invisible to optical microscopes, they do
not change the gemstone's appearance.
2. Remains unaltered through the life of a gem
DNA nanotags remain unaltered throughout the life of a gem, including during cutting, cleaning, or polishing.
3. Can be decoded by Provenance Proof
The DNA nanotags can be decoded by Provenance Proof at any stage in the gemstone's life to determine its place of origin.
4. In collaboration with Gübelin Gem Lab
Together with the Gübelin Gem Lab, Gemfields announced the launch of a new type of traceability technology creating independent proof of provenance for emeralds.
